Work permit issue - brilliant!

"It's close to him finally becoming a West Ham player. It's a work permit situation - that's the only hiccup and that should be resolved by Sunday."
Sunday, how about that for a fortunate timing!

Sam Allardyce has a unique insight in the workload of the UK Border Agency, especially the Benni application, I’m pleased to hear.

Where does he get it all?

Having a Spanish wife does not make him a Spanish citzen does it? If it did then he would not be playing football for South Africa!

Have you thought that he may have already played for SA before meeting his wife? Also there is the point that HE AINT GOOD ENOUGH to play for spain!

My point is he is aloud to work in the eu because he has a spanish wife.

How the f**k does BIG SAM know that this will all be sorted out by Sunday / Monday? Rather strange that we are playing them Saturday? I wouldnt mind but he's hardly played all season?

Why, when we are desperate for a striker has it taken this long to find out that he has a problem with his work permit. Surely this should have all been found out at the start? Also Manicini wont let Benjani come to us,(THANK GOD) but he is very happy for him to talk to Sunderland?

The take home message from this post was - Benni was always signing for us AFTER we met them...

It's not OK, according to regulations, even though it has been done more than once, to agree on NOT fielding a player against a certain team. Usually they do a gentlemans agreement, stating the player as injured or just bench him.
But we are talking about Sam and Dave here so that kind of deal is by definition off.
